Our Members' Area and Zoom Events

We host several Zoom events every month in which our members meet and get to know each other, and explore together what it means to live with a faith in God, alongside having a chronic illness and/or disability.

Here is a selection of what we have to offer...

Psalm Studies

On the first Thursday morning of the month, we explore one of the psalms together, and this session is repeated the following Wednesday evening. These last for about an hour.

We look at the context of the psalm and piece together what it may have meant to the people who originally wrote it. We also think about what strikes us or confuses us about the psalm. We also think carefully about how its themes might apply to us, especially as a community of disabled, chronically ill and neuro-divergent people.

Mindful Art

Twice a month, on a Thursday morning and Monday afternoon, we have our informal 'Mindful Art' sessions. For about an hour we chat about anything and everything, enjoying the company of each other.

Many of our members enjoy art and craft activities, and bring along knitting, sewing, painting or any other project they might be working on, although this is totally optional. In the past people have joined the Zoom with a jigsaw, wordsearch or even lego. It's also fine to just join in with the chat, or even just listen-in.

Journalling

One Saturday morning and one Monday afternoon in the month we have our Journalling sessions. Here we take an hour to have a closer look at our 'Psalm of the Month', picking up on one or two of the main themes or questions we might have.

About half-way through the session, people are invited to turn off their screen and respond individually to one of the themes or questions we are thinking about. This is for about fifteen minutes.  During this time some members pray or meditate (or even sleep!), others write responses prayers or poetry, whilst others use art or music to respond.

We then come back together and people are invited to share their thoughts.

More Info About Our Sessions

We are very relaxed about whether you have your camera on or off, or stay muted. Please do whatever feels comfortable!

We try to keep our sessions to one hour, but we undersand that this may sometimes be too long. If you can only come for part of the session, or arrive late, or leave early, that is absolutely fine!

We want you to be and feel comfortable while on Zoom! If that means lying in bed, or being in your dressing gown, we really don't mind!
